Programme Information
Just on Spec
Just on Spec is a music show for music lovers. The best way to get a taste is to visit their blog. In there you will find playlist from our shows, photos and random thoughts regarding the show. Just On Spec is just a music programme. We play a number of genres each show, usually around a theme to give us a direction and subject matter to argue about. These include:
Best bands on the upcoming festival season including festivals announced in Australia and New Zealand (looks at Rhythm and Vines, Big Day Out, Golden Plains, Meredith, Splendour etc)
Killer Track’s of recent releases (Future of the Left, Drive by Truckers, Wilco, Justin Towns Earle)
Female singer songwriters (Catpower – Jolie Holland – Gilliam Welsh – Sharon Jones –etc)
Sometimes we’ll use mags and other media like the Faces special in Uncut and a Dylan special in Rolling Stone to build a show around.
Feedback has told us our audience is basically music lovers from around 14 right through to mid 40 who are not genre specific in their tastes. We have noticed that the audience shifts depending on the season because the Nelson Tasman region is a really popular holiday destination.
About
Matt Miller is simply a loveable Aussie larrikin who just like the possum has found a happy home in the shaky isles. Matt has hosted radio shows on both sides of the ditch for over 8 years. He admits he first fell in love with music when as impressionable teenager he was lured into the seedy smoke filled rooms of the Melbourne underground to watch bands like the Powdermonkeys, Spiderbait, Meanies, Fireballs and the Dirty 3. Matt has been watching, listening and breathing music ever since...
