Saturday in the Country is a weekly music show focusing mainly on country music. We also venture into easy listening, country/pop, contemporary country even, occasionally, opera. We accept written requests and play as many as we have in our own collections.
About
Brother and sister Terry and Diane Langford have hosted ‘Saturday in the Country’ since 2000.
Terry is a dairy farmer, in Golden Bay, who is also a whizz with sound production and knows about Stage lighting, carpentry, metal work and wiring. He provides his expertise to the Takaka Drama Society (to which both Terry and Diane belong) and also, when requested, to the local schools for their drama and concert performances. Terry also organises the sound and lighting for the Golden Valley Country Music Awards each Queen’s Birthday Weekend and the Mardi Gras on Waitangi Weekend.
Diane is a full-time library assistant at the Takaka Memorial Library and helps run the ‘Costume Hire’ which is a branch of the Drama Society, and acting when the opportunity presents itself.
Terry and Diane are both members of the of the Marble Mountain Country Music Club. Terry sets up the sound and both play in the band, Terry on bass and Diane on rhythm guitar.
At the moment we have Ashley Kumar who is learning the ins and outs of on-air presenting and how to work the desk.
