Programme Information
Art Talk Golden Bay
The top of the south is known for its art and Golden Bay is the jewel in the crown for this region. The Golden Bay Community Arts Council (GBCAC) brings you Art Talk which showcases an extensively broad range of professional and emerging artists working in a wide range of genres including painting, music, sculpture, writing, dance, workshops, touring artists and shows, local festivals, events, circus skills, and the people behind the scenes of anything that resembles art. Through this show I hope to encourage people who may be still a little shy of emerging into the world of art to step out and express themselves creatively, become empowered, realise their own creative dreams and the journey they have yet to start. To also make art less of a mystery and elitist sub culture. Through conversations and interviews with people it is good to help others ‘live their art'. The show also helps people in the community who appreciate art to find out a little about some of the personal stories behind the artist and to find out when shows and exhibitions are taking place.

About
I am Grant Knowles and I have been involved in Fresh FM since before it first came to Golden Bay when I would travel to Motueka once a week and host a ‘Golden Bay on air’ show when the station was called Harvest radio and this helped to establish the studio here in the bay. I have a passion for the arts of the Golden Bay region and have been involved in the arts since I escaped from a large South Island city in 1987. I founded and organised The 'Heart Art' festivals of January 2007, 08, 09 and 10. I have also been a member of the Golden Bay Community Arts Council (GBCAC) since 2006 and chairperson since 2007. I make drums, do wood and stone carving and play the bands Ederlezi and Grio.
